Last month we threw down a smashing opening showcase in the Space Ibiza Discoteca with Disclosure bringing their live show to town and fantastic sets from house heavyweights Dusky, Huxley and our man Leon Vynehall.
This month Chew The Fat! returns with another stellar line up featuring a headline set from Swamp81′s Boddika, progressive duo Pleasurekraft and a live showcase from Max Cooper; as well as Rinse FM’s Foamo and Dirtybird’s A1 Bassline.
We’re really looking forward to welcoming NonPlus Records boss and Swamp81 alumni Alex Green, otherwise known as the stimulating and intelligent beat-maker Boddika, to headline our second showcase of the summer season at Space.
Over the past three years he has been at the forefront of a seismic shift in taste for the UK underground bass scene from the 140bpm bracket to a slower, but more versatile 130bpm. Labels such as Swamp81, Hessle Audio and Hotflush have been instrumental in laying the foundations for an entire new scene and sound to emerge from the “post-dubstep” hype-a-thon.
We have Pleasurekraft flying in for a peak time set of their deep and uplifting grooves, and really recommend checking out their latest release 313 to get an idea of what to expect from this talented and uncompromising duo.
For an artist who claims to have no formal musical training (besides a brief childhood tutoring of the violin), the Irishman known as Max Cooper is held in very high esteem by his brothers in arms. In between his recent achievements as a producer and DJ, in 2008 he was also voted #5 in Beatport’s top artists of year poll, noting his experimentalist approach to dancefloor production that has earned himself more than just a few fans; once also bagging him the title of “future hero” from the charming crew over at Mixmag.
We would also love you to check out his ace podcast for Resident Advisor from back in 2011, which is a great insight into the mind of the man and a little snapshot of the vibe to expect next week for his live set in the Discoteca.
Off of the back of his newly released Sherlock Remixes EP for Fat! Records and Running EP for Rinse FM, we welcome back Foamo to Chew The Fat! in Ibiza, bringing his sub-heavy blend of UK house. Earlier this year he also saw chart success with his new Gorgon City project alongside RacknRuin, jumping in at #44 with their single Real, featuring vocals from Yasmin.
Joining Foamo for a back-to-back set on the night is Source Unknwn label boss A1 Bassline who over the past couple of years has done an extraordinary job of transforming his musical palette to a more stripped back and groove led sound, with EPs featuring on Dirtybird and Pets Recordings.
Elsewhere in Space on the night, you’ll find Doorly making his debut appearance for We Love headlining the Sunset Terrace, alongside new Numbers signing SOPHIE who recently featured for us at our party at Peckham Palais in May, as a result of the stellar Nothing More to Say EP on Huntley + Palmers. And who recently signed to Jackmaster‘s Numbers label with BIPP.
Jackmaster himself will be also on the 1s and 2s alongside Space Terraza headliners Groove Armada and our favourite groove setters, Dusky.
Tickets are €40 or €20 (if you gain entry before 9PM) and can be bought from Ibiza Spotlight here.
