The Kid is back, so straighten up and prepare for some seriously starchy rhythms that have a tendency to reach beyond the breaks box.

‘Way Back’ flaunts weighty synth bass, underpinned by slow breakbeats, and exuberant horn samples. A slight hint of Beastie boys flavour turntablism hangs around, the horn samples eventually disintegrating into pulsing floor filling, acid-flavoured synth stabs, conjuring up electro, techno and house vibes. Ultimate Orange takes pressurized drums loops, an eerie vocal sample and bomb-drop heavy, electro-wired beats wrapped in synths, showing that this big kid refuses to be pinned down by anyone’s rules. Oh, youngsters and their active imaginations…
