Bodhi // The Fat! Club Mix 047
Cardiff duo Bodhi have really arrived with a bang this year, with their lush brand of uplifting house, full of deep grooves and groin-tingling chords, earning them support from a whole host of big names. Their last EP, released on Push and Run, featuring gorgeous house cuts ‘SY’ and ‘Emanation’ established them as serious talent to keep your eye on.
Their mix features some exciting unreleased music of their own, along with fresh material from the likes of Bicep, Waze & Odyssey, Dusky, as well as their incredible remix of The xx’s Angels, which has racked up a staggering 220,000 plays on Soundcloud.
We caught up with Luke and Olly for a chat about their mix, their influences, and the Cardiff scene…
Hi guys, how has 2012 been for you?
It has been great. Started producing at the start of the year and managed to get our first release. Looking forward to the next!
Tell us a bit about your Fat! Club Mix…
Well originally we had a mix lined up that was recorded onto our other Mac but that decided to die on us the other day and is in for repair (it contained most of our music collection!)… So this really is a mix of tracks that we have been playing out recently at clubs.
Who have been your biggest musical influences?
Many to choose from…. we really do draw influence from anything and everything.
What’s it been like getting such big support for your last release ‘Emanation’ and your XX remix?
Great that our work is being well received so early on. Keeps us motivated in our writing!
What’s the scene like in Cardiff at the moment?
Cardiff has a pretty strong scene covering all walks of music. Electronic music is certainly doing great at the moment with a few different promoters and nights bringing in big names regularly.
What do the next 12 months have in store for you?
Well we have another release due out early next year on Sindens ‘Grizzly’ label which we cant wait to get out and hopefully follow up with more releases and plenty of shows.
What do you do outside of music?
I (Luke) have a small little business selling laptops and Olly does a few slots DJing bars in Cardiff.
What 3 tracks sum you up best?
These tend to make appearances at most parties for us, all about the groove.
The RH Factor – Juicy
Floating Points – Marilyn
The Gap Band – Outstanding
And finally, if you could put on your dream party, where would it be, who would play and would there be a theme?
Theme 70′s… Motown/Disco/Funk line up…. Miami Beach…. wow haha
