Your music has been tagged as 'Bosh House' - do you feel this name accurately conveys the sound that you play?
To be honest that's the first time I've heard it called that! I think it gives an idea as to what I play but it doesn't accurately describe it. I hate to be pigeon holed into describing my sound in one word. I play jump-up tracks that make for a good party and I cross through quite a few genres in my sets.
If you had the chance to rename it, what would you go for?
Rubadubdubthreesomeinatubstep.
Do you find being a studio engineer for other dance acts has influenced your own production style?
I have never been a studio engineer for other dance acts so I guess not :)
What about other genres that you don't usually work with - do you find yourself drawing inspiration from them?
I find inspiration from all styles of music. I am a massive disco/ funk fan, I love reggae, drum & bass, hip hop so it can be anything really.
When you're not DJ'ing or producing, what can be found on your stereo?
My favourite album at the moment is from the Bodysnatchers, it's a masterpiece of sheer genius, if you haven't heard it go buy it. I'm also listening to a lot of Nirvana at the moment; Nevermind is an amazing album.
Your DJing schedule takes you to a far few destinations - do you find the crowds that you are playing to differ from city-to-city?
Crowds are different everywhere you go but I think that's the fun part. Anyone can do a good set when they come with support from all their mates but to go abroad, to places where people don't necessarily know who you are or the music you make and still rock it - that's an achievement. My favourite place to play in the world is Leeds, nowhere party's as hard as Leeds, the crowds are amazing, I love ‘em.
What's your current top 5 tunes?
- Spam Javelin - "Stupid Fresh" (Original) Bombsquad Records
- Make Dope - "Escobar & Vito" (Original) Bombsquad Records
- The Bodysnatchers Feat Yolanda "We Here" (Micky Slim Mix) Passenger
- Rock the Disco - "Klaus Hill" (Original) Bombsquad Records
- Micky Slim "Slam"(Original) Bombsquad Records
Where can you most likely be found after the club?
At the bar ;)
And finally, if you weren't a DJ/producer, what would you be and why?
I would be a hair stylist. I worked for Toni & Guy before the DJ'ing took off and you just don't mess with the Zohan...
