Who are Bok Bok and Manara and how did you get together?
Bok Bok & Manara are a male/female DJ tag team from South East London and we specialise in banging club music driven by heavy bass. DJing together was a natural progression from having the same tastes, raving to grime and garage, and feeling compelled to react to the seriousness of dubstep by putting a donk on it!
The term bass or bassline refers to a growing sound in London – can you tell us a little about the scene and what kind of people it appeals to?
There's definitely been a shift towards more people playing bass-driven music. It's a global movement that's transcending scenes and genres, driven by young innovators who know that the best way to kill a rave dead is with big warm subs. All these people have discovered house/ grime/ dubstep/garage and want to blend them all together keep that momentum going.
You originally DJed under the name Faggtronix – what happened to this?
Who the fuck is Faggatronix? Their name sucks.
Does Basshunter give bass a bad name?
Basshunter is all good - all he ever wanted was to see you smiling!
What are you most looking forward to about playing The End?
Playing at the End will be cool because the system is serious and people go there to bruck out not stand around chatting.
Bass – how low can you go?
We'll definitely hit the bellow 40Hz physical level but the highs are important too. Watch for them hi-lo niche basses, there's nothing like them to light up a dancefloor.
What are your 3 favourite tracks at the moment?
Starkey - AllSkate
Nastee Boi - Mussy Mad 2008
Illmana - Tereisa
