    In The Hot Seat: Randomer

Randomer – Uh Oh Scapegoat (MediaFire)

We caught up with new talent Randomer for a quick-fire interview ahead of his appearance in the second room at Chew The Fat! Meets Dirty Canvas this Friday (February 12th). He is possibly the most exciting prospect for 2010 so get to know!

For those that don’t know you, can you tell us a little about how and why you started making music?

I started writing music as soon as I started learning the guitar when I was about 12. I suppose it just came naturally to me, I certainly found it more interesting than learning other people’s songs!

Pete Tong played one of your first releases, ‘Scapegoat’, were you surprised by this? Why do you think he picked up on it?

It was great to have his support. I like making stuff that crosses over between genres, I think he probably picked up on the uniqueness of that track.

Are you a Drum & Bass producer, a Dubstep producer or something else?

I write electronic music, why should artists be limited to one genre? I think a lot of other producers are picking up this, as the public’s tastes become more open minded. It’s a very exciting time for music at the moment.

Is it true you have remixed Placebo’s new single? If so are you a fan of that style of music?

Yes, after hearing my last single on Annie Mac I was contacted to remix their song ‘Bright Lights’. It was quite a challenging remix to do as I had to change the vibe of the original quite radically to allow it to fit within my style. In terms of music I’m into, I’m really open minded – I find myself enjoying music these days that I even disliked when I was younger.

    What’s next for Randomer?

I don’t want to give away too much, but let’s just say that there will be a lot of new music this year from myself.
