We loved Sbtrkt’s set at Chew The Fat! last Friday. A great visual spectacle too as he was joined in the booth by some-time collaborators Sampha and Tic who also donned their tribal masks. Sbtrkt is without doubt one of the most exciting ‘new’ producers to come through in 2009 having already notched up a number of fantastic original productions and high-profile remixes as well as support from Mary Anne Hobbs, Annie Mac and more. With records forthcoming on Young Turks, Planet Mu and Brainmath you can expect to be hearing a lot more from this mysterious producer. I’m not sure if you know about this, but the comments are coming from this being posted on a Drum & Bass online forums.
The story goes… 3 years ago, another producer remixed and distributed Inner City Life among some top DJs in Goldie’s circle. Apparently all done without asking him, or telling him. Said producer had a gig in London, despite being warned not to come to London, which Goldie attended to meet him in person. Word has it, Goldie kicked him down a set of stairs at the club, which is why everyone comes to make “stairs” comments with regard to anyone remixing his music without permission.

Just to clarify this remix download wasn’t shared by me. Plenty of original tracks/ official mixes available
