The Guardian Music have recently launched an incredible music project that gives some fascinating insight on the power that music has on us. Why do we like the music we like, and what does that say about us? These and other questions were raised in an article by musicologist Eric Clarke, and now in an attempt to map as many personal playlists as possible The Guardian are asking you about your musical personality, as part of their ‘Six Songs of Me‘ project.

They have come up with an amazing idea to collate, compare and celebrate the tracks that have a hold on us, both individually and collectively and to do this they need your help! Click on the vid below to see what its all about!

They need you to answer 6 questions, each one providing some understanding to what is your own personal sound and how it resonates with you. This is done by submitting six songs (one for each question) that have a strong personal significance to you. Head on over to the Six Songs of Me site to enter your choices. We won’t bore you with all of ours, but for ‘What song always gets you dancing?’ its got to be ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ by The Chemical Brothers.

The final results will then be analysed and shared to show what and how music has an influence on us.
