The much anticipated latest EP/Album from Hessle Audio co-founder Pangaea, called ‘Release’, has been on the horizon for a while, and you can now preview all 8 tracks from this huge release.
Hessle Audio have built up a stellar reputation since their launch back in 2007, and undoubtedly the collective have been at the core of the shift in tempos and structure in bass orientated music over the last few years. Pangaea, aka, Kevin McAuley, continues to embody the diversity and originality of Hessle with ‘Release’, an absolute beast of an EP that spans the whole spectrum of his influences, from dubstep, grime and hip-hop to house and techno.
Opening track Game features an in-your-face Missy Elliot sample telling you to stay ahead of the game, and whilst it’s far from the best track on the EP, it does somewhat sum up the forward thinking mindset of Pangaea and label’s co-chiefs. Things build steadily in energy through the raw cuts of ‘Release’ and ‘Trouble’ until we reach the fourth track, the brilliantly frantic Majestic 12, before being taken down deeper avenues with the shuffly half-step of ‘Middleman’ and the murkiness of ‘Aware’.
All things considered it’s another supremely solid effort from one of the most individual producers around. Check out previews of all eight tracks below…
