Today sees the release of the first album from Dan Snaith’s side project, Daphni. Better known by his other moniker, Caribou, Snaith has established himself as one of the most interesting electronic musicians around, with his fantastic album ‘Swim’ picking up huge acclaim upon it’s release in 2010 for it’s deep psychedelic influenced sounds.
His work as Daphni sees him explore a darker more club orientated path, with this album, entitled ‘Jiaolong’, containing a number of previously released tracks such as Ye Ye along with a host of unreleased work. From the effortless rhythm of tracks like Ahora to the driving murkiness of Ye Ye and the atmospheric synth futurism of Long it really is a superb album, showcasing a producer at the top of his game.
