The Leeds based Transmission Collective consists of three emerging artists with a like-minded approach to forward thinking electronic music; Wolf Cub, Kahwe and Maru.
Following on from Wolf Cub’s brilliant Desverre EP on Fat! Records that picked up support from big names such as James Zabiela and Ben Westbeech, and Kahwe’s XLR8R approved remix of Pále’s Silverstair, the duo combine with Leeds cohort Maru to complete the collective. Together they bring us their debut release, the Lex EP, a collection of three upfront soulful house cuts on their own label, Transmission Audio Recordings, which has picked up early support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Synkro and Hackman.
Lead track Lex combines crisp percussion, sublime melodic stabs and an infectious vocal sample to produce a subtly effective dancefloor groove. Meanwhile Reverie has all the hallmarks of a piece of classic house music, building from the offset to an all-encompassing crescendo before teasing us with another deep, refined groove. Add to that a luscious vocal and those driving hats and you’ve got a surefire club jam.
Finishing off the EP is Trell, which perfectly rounds off the release and further showcases the versatility of the collective with a slick, dubby cut, complete with catchy vocal refrain and yet more crisp shuffling percussion. You can grab a free download of Trell from the Soundcloud player above!!
The Lex EP is out on Transmission Audio Recordings on October 29th, you can pre-order the release here. Beatport, Juno & iTunes links will be up soon.
