We’re truly excited to be welcoming Pleasurekraft to our second Chew The Fat! takeover of the summer, at Space Ibiza this weekend with We Love… Sundays. Their meteoric rise to fame over the past five years has been an indicative example of the state of play in recent times. These days you’ll find many collaborations between producers are started in the studio by one guy and then finished off by the other, usually on a flight to the next gig.
The pair ‘met’ through the old school music oasis MySpace back in 2007, and began swapping their favourite music via instant messaging, before bouncing demos back and forth, until their eureka moment came in 2009 with their seminal anthem and most famous track, Tarantula. Up until that time they had only met in person once (for four days), something we think solidifies this early work as truly special; having a real understanding of where each other was trying to get to in the creative process, without the benefit of being present in person is a credit to their talent.
They’ve toured the globe twice over and won a sea of fans along the way. Now, it may not seem it, but that really was three years ago. Yet, since then Pleasurekraft have honed their reputation as prolific collaborators and super talented producers, having go on to work with the likes of Green Velvet, Luigi Rocca and most recently, their firm friend Umek.
Having featured on his label 1605 Music Therapy on two occasions (the most recently being the stellar Korea) as well as putting out two remixes, the pair have go on to become a permanent addition to the 1605 label nights at the iconic Sound Academy in Toronto, a residency which has gone from strength to strength since the first party back in March this year.
They’ve had some notable success since the start of this year too, including a Top 10 Beatport charting for their edit of Bontan‘s remix of our man, Josh Butler with the lead track from his excellent Got A Feeling EP, out now on MTA Records.
Over the past few years they’ve also collected an impressive list of remixes, from the dizzying heights of Nervo‘s You’re Gonna Love Again to the sultry passion of Cajmere‘s You’re The One; the bounce and swing of their take on Umek’s Heroes of the Night and their funky take on Green Velvet’s classic La La Land.
Most recently, their collboration with Jaceo and Vedic has been responsible for being one of this summer most deadly dancefloor weapons, a Detroit homage, which is out now on Bitten Records. Wicked track !
We really recommend checking our their wicked 2013 promo mix as a teaser for their peak time set on Sunday…
Elsewhere in Space on the night, you’ll find Doorly making his debut appearance for We Love headlining the Sunset Terrace, alongside new Numbers signing SOPHIE who recently featured for us at our party at Peckham Palais in May, as a result of the stellar Nothing More to Say EP on Huntley + Palmers. And who recently signed to Jackmaster‘s Numbers label with BIPP.
Jackmaster himself will be also on the 1s and 2s alongside Space Terraza headliners Groove Armada and our favourite groove setters, Dusky. Tickets are €40 or €20 (if you gain entry before 9PM) and can be bought from Ibiza Spotlight here.
