Disco of Doom (and occasionally a little gloom). Interview here.

    Disco of Doom

Having given away Disco of Doom’s superb new single for free (which you should also buy in proper high quality) as well as their excellent remix of The Chemical Brothers, we thought it only right to have a little chat with them as well.

What we wished we’d also asked is whether they know they still have a massive picture of Blackout Crew at the top of their page.

Put a donk on it lads.

Imagine that you were both suddenly manifested as an actual physical Disco (of Doom). Who would be working the door, what would the decor be like and how would you describe the music being played there?

In our mind we would imagine it to be like the Worstival (the polar opposite of Bestival) The floor would be knee deep in toilet overflow, the beer would be off and there would be no-one there… Ever. Entertainment-wise we’d have Gary Glitter performing with his Choir and all the drugs would be laced with crack.

You’ve just had a new single out on Coco Machete. What’s the reaction to it been like from other DJs and what’s next on the production front?

Well from the DJ feedback and multitude of gurn-faces we see when we drop ‘Warpig’ on dance floors we can deduce it’s very well liked! We’ve been busy in the studio, we’ve remixed Fukkk Offf, Etienne De Cracy, Foamo and Buckfunk 3000. We’ve got some big remixes in the pipeline but don’t want to tempt fate before they’ve been completed! Next up is working our new single and potentially a collaboration or two with artists we like!

How does Disco of Doom work as a DJ duo? Do you ever get tunes you both want to claim as your own or do you manage to have a distinct collection of tracks?

One word sums it up… Messy. Imagine a married couple who’ve got well past the honeymoon period and generally are looking to get a divorce but can’t due to having kids. Dark.

Can you tell us a bit more about your own night Out Of The Box. You’ve got the amazing Detroit Grand Pubahs playing at the first one who definitely fit that bill.

Out The Box is a new event we’re residents for at The White House in Clapham. They’re on a mission to have some FAT Raves and we like the direction they’re taking it. The launch party (August 21st) sees Toddla T and Detroit Grand Pubahs on the decks alongside our good friend Hot City, the next party in September features Shadow Dancer Live from Boys Noize Records, DJ Zinc (absolutely killing it right now!) Tomb Crew and Mr Hot City again. Needless to say we are very excited to be involved!

Your Chemical Brothers’ bootleg proved a big hit on the blog. Do you have any other Disco of Doom secret weapons up your sleeve?

As said above we’re busy working on new music and remixes… We definitely plan to drop some more bootlegs but when/what would ruin the surprise :)

Disco of Doom vs Drums of Death. Who’s the scariest?

Drums Of Death… He’s taken it one step further with the whole death thing whereas we’re just about plain doom and gloom.
