Paul
‘Trouble’ Arnold, Dance music pioneer and creator of the
well-respected Certificate 18
imprint, has been rocking venues for more than 10 years with his Chew The
Fat! parties. Synonymous with fresh parties, cutting edge music and good,
unpretentious fun, the Chew The Fat!
influence on Electronic music cannot
be underestimated. The impressive list
of DJs who have played at Chew The Fat!
simply speaks for itself with Adam
Freeland, Plump DJs, Ali B, Rennie Pilgrem, Medicine 8, Freq Nasty, Stanton
Warriors, Koma & Bones, Meat Katie, Tayo, Soul Of Man, BLIM, Hyper, Layo
& Bushwacka!, Lee Coombs, Tom Middleton & James Zabiela all playing
a part in the night’s success. Whilst
the flagship night (now residing at London's premier venue - The End) still succeeds in attracting
sell out crowds, the Fat! brand has
expanded into other territories. Fat!
now has regular events in Austria,
Scotland, Germany, Georgia, USA, Spain, South America, Slovenia & Hungary, as well as recently securing a
residency at Space in Ibiza and hosting arenas at several UK
festivals.
Building on the success of Chew The Fat!, Arnold launched Fat! Records
in 2001 with Peacemaker’s ‘Crisis'. The label now boasts over 40 releases from
the likes of Baobinga & I.D, Unique 3, Merka, Dom Kane, Kid Blue, Apollo Kids & Tayo.
Fat! has excelled in launching
the careers of bright new talent. Friendly reached critical acclaim in 2004 with ’10 Things You Need To Know About Friendly’, also receiving the
award for Best Newcomer at the International Breaks Awards. More recently, new signing, Merka, has wowed the industry with his
debut album - Beserka, receiving
radio support from Zane Lowe, Annie
Nightingale & Eddie Temple-Morris (XFM) as well as a string of features
in the Dance press, here and abroad.
The development of new & upcoming
producers continues unabated with fresh cuts coming up from Baobinga & I.D., Merka & Dom Kane as well as remixes from high profile artists such as The Rogue Element, Vandal, Blatta & Inesha
and Si Begg. With a nod to his roots, Paul Arnold also recently signed proto-Dance innovator Unique 3 and re-released his 1989 classic
‘The Theme’ with a clutch of 2007
remixes. His new album – Invasive Signals came out in Oct 07.
With the
success of their last ‘Chew The Fat! At
The End Presents’ mix compilation by Hook
N Sling, the next instalment, mixed by The
Rogue Element & out in March 2008, will be released to celebrate their
10th birthday!
